    A Revolutionary is born.
    Vladimir Ilych Ulyanov was on April 22, 1870. He was born into a middle-class family, in the town of Simbirsk, Russia. He later changed his name to Lenin, after the Lena River. Ilych had 6 siblings who were all well educated. Lenin was a bright child with an inclined academic talent. (Liversidge, 17).

    Young Ilych went through a tragic time in life when he was just 16 years old. On January 24, 1886, his father died. His death was very meaningful to Lenin and left him scarred. Tragedy struck again when his brother Aleksander Ulyanov was hung in Saint Petersburg for revolutionary activities on May 20th, 1887. The death of his brother angered Lenin towards the government, sparking his actions as a revolutionary later in life. (Levine, 26).

    Lenin is Exiled
    In February 1897, Lenin was exiled for 3 years to Siberia, because of his Revolutionary activities. He handed out inflammatory pamphlets that enraged the government and gave workers a cause. Lenin was sentenced to 1 year in jail, and 3 years of exile to Siberia. He found love in exile and married his wife, Nadezhda Krupskaya. He continues to write his Marxist ideas for revolution, under the pseudonym "Lenin". (Fischer, 85).

    Pierre and Marie Curie discovered radium in their lab, it is an element that is radioactive. This means it is an unstable ion that is slowly decaying. Radioactive material is also poisonous.     In 1900, December 1st, Lenin launched a Marxist newspaper to unite the socialist groups of Russia. The newspaper was illegal and not allowed by the government, but allowed many socialist people to unite as one party. The newspaper was called Iskra, or Spark in English. Lenin wrote this after his exile, while he was living in Germany. He later returned to Russia after he saw a socialist group was forming. (Fischer, 98).

    In 1905, there was an unintentional massacre in St. Petersburg when Father Georgy Gapon and his demonstrators were fired upon. This caused much uproar, and many were upset with the tragedy. The workers union was created and many strikes took place against the czar. Although it was not successful, it set the roots for later revolution. It broke the social contract the peasants and Czar shared, creating a distrust. (Naden, 78).

    In 1905, Albert Einstein published one of his most famous works: The Theory of Special Relativity. This was a scientific breakthrough that opened the minds of so many scientists.   • The Mensheviks split with the Bolsheviks.

    The Mensheviks split with the Bolsheviks.
    The Bolsheviks led by Lenin split from the Mensheviks due to a major difference in ideals. The Bolsheviks believed the Revolution should be led by the workers and the working class. The Mensheviks allied themselves with the bourgeoisie. The socialist party was now divided into two parts. (Naden,112).

    In 1912 the Unsinkable Ship went down after a fatal encounter with an iceberg. 1,517 people went down along with the ship and was a disaster. Although it was a tragic accident it gave naval ships, cruise or warship, more lifeboats and protection for any scenario so this tragedy would never again happen.     The Birth of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic
    On November 8, 1917, The Mensheviks defeat the Czar. They then put the bourgeoisie as the "Provisional Government". The Bolsheviks then overthrow the Provisional Government during the October Revolution. The Bulshoviks choose Lenin as their leader and the deed was done. (Fischer, 100).

    Lenin almost dies
    In August 1918, Lenin is nearly killed in an assassination attempt by the White Army. The White Army was made up anti-soviet people who were trying to get rid of the new socialist government. The White Army was defeated quickly by the Red Army(Soviet Forces) under Leon Trotsky, Lenin's trusted general by 1920, but the fighting does not fully stop until 1922 when neighboring regions are also defeated. Lenin was shot twice, but recovered and stayed to lead the Soviet people.(Liversidge, 211).

    Formation of the USSR
    In 1922 the White Army and the rest of the Whites are put down. The Soviets come together to form the new socialist government into effect officially. The new Soviet State is put into effect under the leadership of Vladimir Lenin. (Liversidge, 255).

    Death of Lenin
    On January 21, 1924, our favorite Marxist Revolutionary dies. He died after a series of strokes, but it is not yet known what the exact reason was. Some scientists believe it was an STD or poisoning. His death gave birth to Joseph Stalin's leadership of the USSR, imposing dark times for the nation. (Naden, 211).
