Journey to College

  • It's Graduation Day!

On this day I graduated high school. I lived in a small town, Rich Square, North Carolina. I knew once I graduated I was leaving the area.
  • I'm Finally Out of Rich Square!

Almost one month after graduating, I moved to Norfolk, Virginia to attend East Coast Polytechnic Institute (ECPI) in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
  • Married at 19, Yikes!

I married my High School Sweetheart, he's a Sailor in the Navy and he asked me to travel the world with him. Awe
  • I'm an Airman!

    I'm an Airman!
Yes, I joined the Air Force and made it through basic training! ECPI became too expensive and I knew I didn't want student loans so I enlisted for the GI Bill. That's me, far left.
  • Baby Fever

It's a girl! Our first born Arianna was born, no time for school I practically held her most of her first four years on Earth. She had all of my time and attention.
  • First International Travel

I got out of the Air Force to be a stay at home mom. We packed up and moved to Yokosuka, Japan. I thought college was a distant memory at this point but I was hopeful.
  • Another One!

Yes, another baby girl and no college degree.
  • Now is the Time

After enrolling into a two year degree program, my distance learning classes were often dropped, I finally found a degree program online at Barton Community College in Kansas.
  • A Degree and Another Girl

    A Degree and Another Girl
At this time I have an associates degree and a new baby girl. It was a big accomplishment but I wanted to move on to get my bachelors but could not find an online degree program for Elementary Education. Here are all three girls pictured.
  • Back to America

After spending over ten years in Japan we finally returned to the States. My husband got orders to Orlando, Florida and as soon as we settled in the hotel while we looked for a home I applied for admission to the University of Central Florida.
  • I Did It! Yay! Finally!

    I Did It! Yay! Finally!
I graduated from UCF with a B.S. in Elementary Education, this was truly a fulfilling accomplishment! http://stars.library.ucf.edu/honorstheses/197
  • Now

Now we are in Rota, Spain and I'm in my first semester in a masters program!
