    On March 5, 1953, Joseph Stalin dies in Moscow, Russia at age 74. His health started to get worse and suffered from a stroke at the time of his death. After his death, his body was preserved in Vladimir Lenin's tomb in the Red Square until 1961. His body was removed in 1961. The event is important because Stalin was one of the most brutal military dictators ever, as well as an important part of WWII. Also, Stalin's death led to the succession of Nikita Khrushchev.
