Ivan VI came into power in 1533 when he was 3 years old after both of his parents died and he was the only one left. The boyars tried to control young Ivan and take control through him. -

His father, Ivan III, ruled Russia from 1462 to 1505. when he died his wife took his role and ruled Russia for several years. she died when Ivan was 3 years old and left him to rule Russia. -

crowned as czar
At 16 he had himself crowned czar and was the first one to use it officially. -

the good period
in 1547 started Ivan's good period. he won victories, gave Russia a code of laws, and add land to Russia. -
1560
the bad period
after "the good period" came "the bad period" following his wife's Anastasia died. Ivan accused the boyars of poisoning his wife and turned against them. -
1581
killed his son
in 1581, during a violent quarrel, Ivan killed his eldest son and heir. -
Ivan dies
After he died, his second son was left to rule (he killed the eldest). when his son died without an heir, Russia was in a period of turmoil known as the "time of troubles".
