    Arriving To Ellis Island
When I arrived to Ellis Island the line was very big since many people came from all over. It was difficult for me to understand the people that work their becasue they don't speak my language. I t was very exhausting to wait ina line all day and you are confused on what is going on. Since I came to America by myself I was all alone and no one would help me. Also, I had no one to talk to while I wait hours to get to America.

    Arriving in America
After going through Ellis Island I arrived in America 2 days later. When I got off of the ship I met my fiance Leo, which made me feel better. When I got off the ship people were harrasing me for work and items to buy. Then a man almost took her my but Leo didn't let the man take it. If the man would have taken my bag then I wouldn't have any clothes and personal items. After the hassle of the crowd, we arrived in the tiny house where we would live before we went to the west.
  • Getting a Job

    Getting a Job
After settleing in America, I decided to get a job to support myself. I got a job for the chicken plucking industry. The hours are very long and the pay is very low, but whatever will help iw okay. The work conditions are horrible and they treat me unfair since I am a woman, so it is hard to speak up for myself. I got a job to support my fiance and I and so we will have money to move west. With the money I make I will be able to move west and build a farm. Also, I will have extra money.
  • Losing a House

    Losing a House
I have been working very hard but I dont get paid enough so it is hard to pay for the bills. I have been standing up to my boss for not treating me right and horrible work conditions, but all he did was fire me. With me not working and my fiance only working we lost our house. Since we lost our house we had to find a smaller place to live which wasn't very hard, but it was very small. To pay the bills I had to work to make cloth and clothing which for my case was better than plucking chickens.
  • Moving West

    Moving West
Finally, my fiance and I have worked enough money to move west. To move west we bought two horses and a wagon since we decided to move by wagon. We didnt pack very much items since we were trying to save money but we did have plenty of money to start a farm. The weather wasn't bad since we left in the summer so it won't be cold. But, the ride was long and there wasn't anything to do be sit.

After gtting our land, we bought materials like wood and building materials to make a farm and a place for the animals to be. It was easy to make the housing becasue my fiance had expirience with wood. After everyhting was built we got animals such as, pigs, cattle, and chicken. We sent our farming goods to the east for people to use so we will make money off of it. It was hard to make money at the beginnign but as time went on we got more and more money.
  • Chinese Exclusion Act

    Chinese Exclusion Act
The Chinese Exclusion Act affected the farmers and peole that lived here becasue less people were ont he railroad and there were less workers. With less people moving west we wont have as many people trying to take our land and using outr resources. So, the Chinese Exclusion act affected us positively. Also, less people will be buying the supplies we need to make our farm better to make money. Now the farm is wealthier and huge since ther is not as much competiotion to sell our goods.
