I was not really into Judaism at the time, but this was where I met a group of friends who have shaped who I am today. I took a Jewish poetry class for all eight semesters that I was there, and frequented a local open mic night with friends from Bergen County High School of Jewish Studies.

    Significant Teacher In My Life
Joe, the head of the studio production department at SUNY Purchase, showed that he was attentive to everyone's strengths, interests, and current projects by making connections between musicians in the school (and beyond). One time, he arranged a song I wrote for his own band and had them play it as a class presentation. I don't remember what the topic was, but I felt really important having the teacher use my work. He was also always available as a mentor. He sees good qualities in everyone.
