    Impact: Allowed transportating to be easier. Ships could also travel up the river because the steam boat was powered by the steam engine. Steamboats are still used today for crossing rivers or lakes and taking commercial tours in Maine

    Impact: The Erie Canal connected the great lakes to the Atlantic Ocean. Many people in America were using the Erie Canal to make trading easier and it was less expensive. Today the Erie Canal is used by boaters and fisherman.

    Impact: The raillroad impacted American society a lot, it "supplied cities and towns with food, fuel, building materials, and access to markets." Railroads also can make a city have a better economy. Railroads are still commonly used everyday for transportation.

    Impact: Vulcanized rubber has a big impact on society today, it is the reason why we have wheels on our cars. Also, the company Goodyear is named after Charles Goodyear. The invention is still being used today for many things.

    Impact: The American sewing machine impacted the Industrial revolution and reduced the time it took to sew clothing. People didn't have to sew by hand with the sewing machine. The sewing machine is commonly used today.
