  • Philip Nolan

    Nolan had a plan to travel to Texas and capture wild horse so he could market them. Spanish authorities arrested him and upon returning to Texas, was killed.

  • Jose Gutierrez de Lara

    He started a revolution during the Mexican War. Along with Jose Alvarez he made plans for liberation of Tejas and Mexico. Later, he helped form the Gutierrez-Magee Expedtion.
  • Dr. James Long

    He was the leader of the Long expedition, and he tried to invade Tejas during the war of 1812 until he was killed in 1822.

    He served in the U.S. Army for four years and after resigning from the army he made the Gutierrez-Magee Expedition to try to invade Tejas.

    A battle between republican forces of the Gutierrez-Magee expediton and Jose Alvarez de Toledo y Dubois and Joaquin de Arredonde, which was the bloodies battle war ever faught on Texas soil
  • Jean Laffite

    He was involved in a plot to attack Tejas. He won the Battle of New Orleans along with his brother and traveled to Gelveston to organize a government. He betrayed French refugees to Spain.

    After the fall of Iturbide, Mexico adopted a federal system that is close to the U.S.'s, the fedral congress passed a national colonization law on August 18,1824

    The State Colonization Law was made to bring the people of Coahuila and Txas together. Americans could live there, but Mexicans got first choice of land.
