  • Adolf Hitler is Born

    Adolf Hitler was born in Branau am Inn Austria to Alois and Klara both coming from poor families.
    Historical Significance:
    This is the day he was born.
  • Hitler's Father Dies

    Alois Hitler dies of a lung hemorrhage. Hitler was 13 at the time and deeply affected by it because his dad was the one that pushed him in his studied and to get a good job.
    Cause and Affect:
    This caused Hitler to do badly in school adn misbehave knowing there wouldn`t be harsh punishment from his parents.
    This affected in Hitler dropping out of Highschool.
  • Hitler's Mother Dies

    Klara Hitler dies of cancer. The loss of his mother affects Hitler deeply because of the love his mother showed him.
    Cause and Affect:
    This caused HItler to lose ties with what was left of his family.
    This affected him to consider suiciding by joing the army in WW1.
  • Hitler moves to Vienna

    At the age of 17, Hitler moves to Vienna, the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He plans to attend art school.
    Cause and Affect:
    The cause of him moving to Vienna was to attend an arts school.
    The affect was he had been rejected twice from the art school and gave up on his dream.
  • Turning Point # 1

    Adolph Hitler got rejected by the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. His dream of becoming an artist came crashing down when he wasn’t accepted to the art school. Afterwards Hitler had considered suicide by joining the army in because his mother had died and so had his father earlier and he lost all support and love of his parents in his life.
    Historical Significance:
    The significance of this was it affected his childhood greatly and caused him to become of what he was which was a horrible dictator.
  • Hitler Joins the German Army

    Hitler volunteers for the German army and is accepted.
    Historical Significance:
    Hitler goes into war where he is blinded by mustard gas and is depressed while he recooperates.
  • Hitler is Blinded by Mustard Gas

    Hitler is blinded by a mustard gas attack. He regains his sight, while recovering he is depressed.
    Cause and Affect:
    The cause may have been the passing of his parents and his dream of being an artist crushed.
    The affect it had on him was that he was very depressed
  • Hitler Volunteers to Identify Socialists

    Hitler convinced the German army that he was against socialism and avoided arrest. He helps the army find other soldiers who did support socialism and he was recruited to be a political officer.
    Historical Significance:
    This eventually led him to join the German Worker's Party and become a dictator.
  • Adolf Hitler Joins German Worker's Party

    Hitler's political career began in Munich when he joined the German Workers' Party (DAP), a small group of extreme nationalists and anti-Semites.
    Historical Significance:
    This started his political career which would eventually lead to his dictatorship.
  • Turning Point # 2

    Adolph Hitler took over the leadership of the party. He renamed the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP), and it had become the largest party in Germany.
    Continuity and Change:
    This continued in him becoming dictator of Germany. This was a chnage from before when he was only serving in WW1
  • Hitler Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison

    The Nazis unsuccessfully try to take over the German government and Hitler was sentenced to five years in prison for treason.
    Historical Significance:
    It was his first try to take over the German Government and he failed.

    The Nazis, led by Hitler, began to eliminate Jews from Eastern Europe. Many Jews are be killed, most in brutal concentration camps.
    Ethical Dimension:
    This was cultural genocide of Jewish people in Europe whihc is morally and ethically wrong because it was targeting a specific ethinicity and trying to kill it off.
  • Hitler becomes Chancellor of Germany

    After the death of President Hindenburg, Hitler becomes “Fuehrer and Reich Chancellor” which is the chancellor of Germany.
    HIstorical Significance:
    This lead the way to him becoming dictator of Germany.

    After being named chancellor of Germany, a presidential election is held in 1934 where Hitler wins, because he vows to fight communism. He is now firmly in power as dictator of Germany.
    Cause and Affect:
    The cause of him winning was because he vowed to fight communism.
    This affected in him becoming the worst dictator of the century.
  • Undoing of the Treaty of Versailles

    Hitler aims to undo the Treaty of Versailles and uniting all the Germans.
    Historical Significance:
    By this happening it leads the way to WW2.
  • Hitler is Time magazine's "Man of the Year."

    Because of his political dominance and being a central figure in the world, Time magazine named Hitler as "Man of the Year." They described the actions of his party as "ruthless."
    Historical Significance:
    At the time Adolf Hitler was a a big political figure in the world known for his government the Nazi's.
  • Hitler Declares War Against the U.S

    Four days after Japan bombs Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Hitler declares war against the U.S. Germany had no agreement with Japan, but the U.S and Britain were against Japan, this resulted in Germany going against them.
    Historical Significance:
    This erupted into WW2 the biggest war the world has seen yet.
  • Hitler Survives Assassination Attempt

    Hitler escapes when a bomb explodes at his headquarters in Berlin. That was the third assassination attempt against Hitler.
    Cause and Affect:
    The cause of trying to kill HItler was because of his dictatorship.
    The affect was he got rid of possible suspects from his army.
  • Hitler Orders the Destruction of Germany's Infrastructure

    Hitler orders the destruction of the railroads, highways, and other important features of German industry, but the order is not obeyed.
    Cause and Affect:
    The cause of this order was because Germany had lost the war so Hitler decided that Germany shouldn't survive.
    The affect of this was the order wasn't obeyed.
