    The Treaty of Versailles was created. This treaty stated that Germany caused World War I and is responsible for the damages. Germany agreed to pay reparations, minimize their army to 100,000 soldiers, and transfer territory to neighboring countries. Hitler gained power at this time to overrule this treaty.

    New York stock market crashes leading to bankruptcy among multiple businesses. This was a worldwide crisis and caused many people to become unemployed. At this time the Nazi party grew and became the largest party in the German parliament.
  • Hitler Appointed Chancellor

    Hitler Appointed Chancellor
    The Nazis lost almost two million votes before the Reichstag elections and only won 33% of the vote. They were not going to get the majority of Democratic votes, but instead the conservative votes. A few months later the president of Germany, Paul von Hindenburg, appointed Hitler as chancellor of Germany.
