  • Very First School

    Very First School

    The first ever public school in Spirit Lake was a log cabin on Gary Avenue, between twelth and thirteenth street.

  • Scool in the Court House

    In 1866 the school moved the second story of the court house. The School authorities provided all the equipment and furnishings.

  • Fire

    In 1872 the court house got destroyed by a fire so the school got moved to a two story structure on Hill Avenue. It was just south of the Crandall House which was later the Antler's Hotel and is now present day Heritage Square. The school took up the ground level.
  • First Modern School

    First Modern School

    This school was built in 1883 and housed all grades.
  • Next Grade School

    Next Grade School

    This school was built in 1914 right next to the last school which got tore down.

  • Current Spirit Lake School

    The School were are in now was built in 1960.
