    Guglielmo Marconi give the very first wireless telegraphy patent in England in the year 1896

    In between the years of 1890-1900 Marconi and Nikola Tesla both came up with ideas and theories on how to send and receive wave lengths (that included sound) wirelessly. They had their own little race to make the first device that could do that. Marconi began testing his machine that he thought would work and it did after many adjustments for several months in the late year of 1886-1900
  • Marconi became the first person ever to transmit signals

    Once Marconi transmitted the signals across the Atlantic Ocean, he was credited for being the father of radio beating Nikola Tesla, who in which had feud with him for the ongoing year after Marconi won their race. In the end the feud ended and they both praised each others work.
  • BBC and other broad casting stations started to appear

    The radio stations popped up and some where even funded by the government as a news station. The new radios came out having being able to listen to several different stations.
  • The United State and other countries adopted the radio into their army

    United States and other countries like Britain and Germany started using the early form of the radio for contacting ships for emergencies. It would take until the beginning of WWII to have a significant upgrade to the early radio into a more modern version.
  • BBC in both Britain and America overtook newspapers as being the leading source of news

    As BBC became popular newspapers started to go on strike and families started to gather around the radio, and it became a common thing in America and Britain.
  • In the 1930's sports broadcasts started

    Sports broadcasts started and became very popular for baseball and revolutionized radio.

    In between 1940 and 1945 the radio was used widespread in WWII for both Allied and Axis powers

    During WWII the radio proved it's importance once again from contacting Allies and even broadcasting news to the public. Towards the end of the war ( Especially when America go involved) music stations started and became very very popular for the public. Music stations were favored so much that FM stations started to overtake the AM stations. Rock and Roll started to form around that era also. For the military side of the radio use there was thousands of radio stations dedicated towards the war.
  • in 1950 FM stations became the most popular beating the AM stations.

    In the 50's black and white televisions started to get popular in America and Britain making AM stations less useful and the FM stations saw a boom of popularity because of rock and roll.
  • In the 60's you could find radios in every model of cars

    In the 60's car radios became popular among teens and young adults, because of this the radio became transportable and came in every model of cars.
  • in the 70's there was at total nine hundred FM stations and the first concept of a car stereo was created

    in the 70's the car stereo was first introduce and became popular in the mid to late 70's increasing amount of FM stations in America
  • The first ever mixed cassette and radio player

    The cassette and radio player came out in the 70's but it had flaws so it didn't get popular until the early 80's to the point were everyone had one
  • in the 90's the radio's appearance had changed dramatically over the decades

    The radio had started losing it's popularity in the 90's to television stations that broad casted music like MTV and others, and at that point having a radio in your house was extremely rare to find making it a must have in your vehicle.

    radio was soon replaced again in 2000's when new technology like the smartphone came out onto market

    When the first smartphone was created it was for more wealthier people but towards the end of the decade it got more advanced and less expensive leaving radio less popular at home but it evolved into radio stations on your phone like Pandora, and I heart radio.
