Hero Timeline

    Subway Story
We watched an interview about a selfless man who jumped onto live train tracks to save a man he didnt know from dying. He explained how he didn't stop and think about whether or not what he was doing was smart, he just knew it was the right thing to do. A hero to me is someone who will put everything on the line to help someone in need. Risking your life to help others is the true definition of heroism.

Why Courage Matters and Roy Benavides
We learned about a great man, Roy Benavides, who did everything in hos power to save his comrades. He was shot, stabbed, and severly injured yeet he didn't give up until his buddies were safe. He showed how much we can really do and how much we can take before giving up. He is, beyond a doubt, a real war-hero.
  • Interview with Kristi Quillen

We watched an interview of an everyday person who decided to make a change in her life and join the peace corps. Her name is Kristi Quillen and she left everything behind to go help others in need. • Different kinds of heroes

    Different kinds of heroes
Today, we talked about the different kinds of heroes in our world and it made me think what kind of person i consider a hero. A hero needs to conviction, and has to be able to be a leader, but most of all a hero needs bravery. I just cant see a famous artist or scientist as a hero because, to me, a hero is someone who is brave enough to help others even if it means hurting themselves.

    Decided on a Hero
In my eyes the greatest heroes are the ones who serve in our military anf fight for our freedom and the freedom of others. Most military heroes aren't as glorified as they should be which is a crime against them so it was hard for me to find someone in the military who accomplished so much. But as i was scrolling through a list of war generals Dwight D. eisenhower caught my eye and thats when i decided i was going to dedicte the next few weeks to learning about him and making him my hero.

Checked out two books and chose the one i liked better
Today was our last day in the library and i knew i had to get a book or i would be in trouble. I leafed through two different books the library had about Eisenhower and there was one, written by Geoffrey Perret that just glorified his military attributes and admired his character as a whole and right then and there i knew it was the book i wanted. Redaing this book the author just went on and on about Eisenhower and it made me realize how much he was adored by the public.

    Power point
The second day of the power point talked mostly about how the younger generation can determine the future of our country through our actions. I thought about it and realised inside every one of us is a hero but if we don't make the effort and fight against the things that push us down then nothing is going to change for us.
  • power point day 3

    power point day 3
Today we discussed whether or not the youth of today can be the heroes our world needs. Education is the key to being successful and right now it's pretty debatable whether or not kids are learning what they need to know. We are going to be responsible for all the problems and we have to be able to fix all the problems caused by older generations. In order to be a real hero the younger generation needs to facewhat the future holds and not back down.

Heroes in the books we read
We analyzed different books we've read over the years and found a verion of a hero in all of them. In every novel, short story, or movie there is always a character that can classified as a hero in someones eyes. Heroes are everywhere, you just have to look for them. We've been reading about different heroes, some fictional, all of our lives yet we rarely think of them as such.

Chose quotes from my book and read them to the class
I was faced with the challenge of finding quotes from my book and explaining why i picked them. The book i have is hundreds of pages long so i haven't been able to read the entire thing but ive been leafing through pages and reading certain chapters that i thought would help. I wanted to show how much the military played a role in his life and how deep down he was still wise beyong his years.
