The Danish war
Bismarck started a war with Denmark to fight for the provinces of Schelwig and Holstein. Danmark was defeated and Austria and Prussia became the joint owners of these provinces. -
Austro-Prussian war (seven weeks war)
The war ended quickly, with Prussian forces overwhelming Austria and their allies. -
Establishment of the North German Confederation
Following the seven weeks war Bismarck began to unite the German states. There were only four southern states thst didn't join the empir. -

The Franco-Prussian war
Bismarck provoked a war with France to conquer southern Germany so the southern states would vouluntary merge with unified Germany. The Prussian army destroyed French forces at the battle of Sedan and quickly moved inland to capture the capital. -
Establishment of the German Empire
The last four southern state consented to unification with Prussia forming the German Empire.
