    Genghis Khan's birth

    Gehghis Khan was born in 1162, near the border between Siberia and Mongolia, His birth or personal name was Temujin. Genghis Khan was born poor but by the end of his life he would become the leader or the largest land empire of all time.

    In 1178, Genghis khan married Borte. WIth her Genghis Khan had four sons and no one is sure how many daughters.

    Starts Ascending Power

    After Genghis Khan escaped from enslavement by another tribe he and his brothers formed a small fighting unit.Khan was able to become more powerful as his army grew from a few to over 20,000 men. Under his rule he began to unite all the Mongol tribes and break through the divisions that were between each tribe.

    In 1205, Genghis Khan had beaten all of his rivals including his former best friend Jamuka. Genghis Khan was able to vanquish people because he has an organized military and put good leaders in charge instead of his family members which was against custom.

    As a reward for uniting all the Mongol tribes, all the Mongol nobles assmebled and gave Genghis Khan(known as Temujin then) his title which means "Khan of All Between the Oceans.

    Defeated the Naiman Tribe

    In 1206, Gengjhis Khan defaeted one of the most powerful tribes, the Naimans. This victory gave him control central and eastern Mongolia.

    Pillaged Northern China

    Genghis Khan and his followers attacked the Jin Dynasty in northern China, he attacked because the leader has demanded their submission. The Jin army ended up having to kill thousands of their own people beacuse of food shortages.

    War with the Khwarezm Empire

    In 1219, Genghis Khan and the Mongols went to war with the Khwarezm Empire. The Khwarezm Empire was located in present day Uzbekistan, Iran, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan. Even though the Mongols were outnumbered they savely destroyed the empire, letting the skilled workers stay alive and killing the unskilled laborers

    Returns to Mongolia

    In 1225, Genghis Khan returned to Mongolia. At that time he controlled from the Sea of Japan to Caspian Sea. As soon as he had returned he attempted to conquer Xi XIa Kingdom again beacuse they wouldn't give up troops.

    Genghis Khan's Death

    Genghis Khan died in 1227.A main contributor to his death was because was thrown from a horse and suffered internal injuries. Even to this day Genghis Khan's burial place is unknown.
