    Archeduke Franz Ferdinand's Assassination
    Archduke Franz Ferdinand was heir to the Austrian throne and was assassinated by Gavrilo Princip. Princip wanted independence for Serbia, not control from a foreign power like Austria-Hungary. This assassination led to Austria declaring war on Serbia. This later ended up causing a massive fight because countries already picked sides.

    Frank Woodruff Buckles - Enlistment Into The War
    He was just 16 years old when he attempted to get enlisted into the war. He gave his age as 18 when he went to a recruiting station in Wichita. They told him he wasn't old enough. A week later he went to Oklahoma City, and lied about his age, saying he was 21. They accepted him and told him to be ambulance service if he wanted to get to France right away. He took the opportunity because he was so interested in the war.

    Frank went overseas on the Carpathia in December of 1917. Everyone on board thought they were heading for France, but instead, they went to Winchester, England. They went to relieve the unit of the Sixth Marines at a camp hospital names 35.     While Buckles was in France, He was assigned to prisoner of war escort company. After the war, he spent his time escorting prisoners back to Germany. One time. the prisoners had an orchestra and the escorting people sat outside the gate listening to them play.

    In the war, Buckles drove an ambulance to hospitals in England. He often found himself driving to a hospital in Bordeaux. He drove a motorcycle sidecar, and eventually, he drove a Ford Ambulance and Cars. That was the one hospital he went to often. When he did arrive in France, he had many assignments, but none of which he was to fight in the war.

After he received his money, it took him 3 days to get home to Oklahoma City. He did end up going to a business school in Clinton. He took a short course of Shorthand and typewriting. After schooling, he went to Toronto, Ontario for his very first job.
