    The Byzantine Empire was at its height during Justinian’s reign . The height was in the year of 565 A.D. The empire had reached its height in the 4th century. Most of the lands were included that surrounded the Mediterranean Sea. There were about nine lands surrounding the Mediterranean Sea.

Emperor Leo thought that with the icons people would begin to worship them. He thought they would do that instead of worshiping God so he banned them from the people.
