Events that progressed into the World War I

  • Dual Alliance

    Dual Alliance
    The Dual Alliance was between Germany and Austra-Hungary. It was formed by Bismark. The Dual alliance was part of the alliance system which had been created to keep peace within Europe. Bismark's overall goal was to isolate France and keep them from having any allies. The forming of the Dual Alliance was important to the progress of World War I because France was now after revenge.

    The creation of the Triple Alliance was when Italy joined Germany and Austria-Hungary. The Triple Alliance was a military alliance between the three countries. In the years coming up to the World War I it related to the alliance system. The alliance system made everyone against each other and had enemies build up defenses and alliances. Without those alliances World War I would have never happened. The alliances became a world war instead of a small war.

    After Bismark had taken another one of France allies, a treaty with Russia was formed. Kaiser Wilhelm II didn't want to share any power, his army was his prized possetion. This caused a lapse treaty with Russia and formed a military alliance with France in 1893 leading up to the World War One.

    The alliance of Russia and France was formed after Russia's lapse in 1890. Russia responsed by creating a joint military with France. The alliance between Russia and France is important to the progression to World War I. This alliance gave Bismark fear. If war broke out between the two countries, it would make Germany an enemny of both.

This force was important to the progression to World War I because having a strong army made most of the citizens feel patrotic. Imperialism was also a big part in the war by allowing the nations to compete for colonies. Imperialism is a country's power and influence through a military force.

    In 1905 and again in 1911 had conflicts. Germany and France fought over who would control Morocco, in Northern Africa. Most of Europe supported France, so Germany backed down.
    This event lead to conflict between European countries by expanding an emprie and by taking over weaker countries that led to intense competiton. These show how significant imperialism was.

    The Triple Entente was when Britian had made another entente that included Russia and France. This entente practically ensured Britian would not fight against them. The Triple Entente was a second rival camp in Europe. It included Great Britian, France, and Russia. Its important to the progress of the World War I because if one small problem happened between the two rivals, war would break out.

    Austria took over Bosnia and Herzegovina, which had very large populations of Slavic. Austria annexing Bosnia and Herzegovina made Serbia very upset which became important to the progress of World War I. Nationalism is a unifying force within a country which was very powerful in Serbia.

    Britian declares war on Germany in 1914. Germany and Austria-Hungary were known as the Central Powers because of their location in Europe. This is important to the progress of World War One because it made it so that Europe was locked in battle.

    The Assassination of Archduke Ferdinand
    Archduke Ferdinand was royal to the Austro-Hungarian throne. Archduke and his wife were shot in a car through the streets of Sarajevo. The shooter was part of the Black Hand society.
    The assassination of Archduke Ferdinand is important to the progression to World War I because Austria decided to use the murder as an excuse to punish Serbia. Also, Austria didn't want to negotiate at all, so it basically stated that the war is on.

    Germany declared war on France on August 1st, 1914 then decleared war again on August 3rd, 1914 just three days later. German troops poured into Belgium and invaded. This was part of the Schlieffen Plan. This was important to the progress of World War One because this showed how intense and fierce Germany was and that they weren't going to stop.

    In 1914, World War I was declared as on. Austria rejected Serbia's offer and declared war. This was important to the progression of the World War 1 because it created a world war rather then just a war between countries.
