As the first world war was just starting; Adolf Hitler applied for the German army. He was accepted in August 1914 and served untill Germany's surrender in November 1918. The experience was said to heve strengthened Hitler's patriotism for Germany and his hate for other countries.

The great Depression hit the Weimar Rebuplic (Germany's Government) hard. The Stoc k Market crash caused the american loans that were building the German economy to be cut off. The economy needed support and leadership. Unfortunately; the Nazi party was on the rise.

Nazis burned down Jewish buisnesses and homes. Hundreds of Jews were hurt and 96 were killed. 30 000 Jews were arrested for no reason and sent to concentration camps.
