General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna arrives in San Antonio. Travis takes command of the Alamo. The battle was a two-hour fight located in Southwest corner of the compound. -

Santa Anna gives the order to attack before dawn. Travis was one of the first Texan to die. It was a 90-minute bloody battle. Santa Anna then orders to burn the bodies of the slain defenders. 189 defenders died loosing between 600 - 1,600 men. -
Golidad Massacre
Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna and his main force of at least 5,000 men attacked San Antonio. James Fannin and his remaining force of about 350 men were asked to help Travis and the Alamo defenders. It was not long before the Texians found themselves surrounded on an open prairie.
