    The Great Northern War
    The Great Northern War lasted from 1700-1721. This war was between Seeden and Russia. Russia came through the war successfully.
  • Decembrist Rvevolt

    Decembrist Rvevolt
    The Decembrist Revolt started in 1825 and was located in St. Petersburg Russia. Military officials showed a revolt against the current czar Nicholas I. This group of people felt threatened by his conservative views. As a result Nicholas I created new regulations to prevent the spread of the revolt.
  • Czar Alexander II Emancipates the Serfs

    Czar Alexander II Emancipates the Serfs
    In 1856, Alexander II spoke before Moscow and aked them to consider freeing the serfs. Eventually, Alexander II freed the serfs although, some serfs felt like they didn't get the benefits they were promised after they were freed.
  • The Assassination of Alexander II

    The Assassination of Alexander II
    Alexander II was assassinated in the streets of St. Petersburg from a bomb that was thrown by a memeber of the revolutionary "People's WIll" group. They've murdered officials and have attempted many times to assassinate him before. This group has tried to overthrow Russian's government many times before.

    Czar Nicholas II Abdicates the Russian throne
    Nicholas II was forced to abdicate the throne by the Petrogod Insurgents. He wasn't trained or inclined to rule. Nicholas II led Russia into costly wars that lead to ineffectual leadership. Obviously he wasn't ready or prepared to rule.
  • Russo-Japanese War

    Russo-Japanese War
    This war lasted for one year between Russia and Japan. It began with the Japanese naval attack on Port Arthur. Russians didn't expect the Japanese to go into war since they were at a time where they just became a country.
  • Bloody Sunday

    Bloody Sunday
    Bloody Sunday took place in St. Petersburg, Russia. This was a major massacre that was a start to the Russian Revolution. The leader of the assembly was priest, Georgy Gapon. He lead the workers protesting for desired reforms.
  • The Revolution of 1905

    This was when czar Nicholas II attempted to transform the Russian government from autocracy to a constitutional monarchy. Major undustrial centres and general strikes followed. Nicholas II responded by announcing his intention to establish an elected assembly to advise the government.

    Before World War I occurred, Russian czar Nicholas was advised not to go into war because of the risk of devistation. Many countries were involved in this war and America was one of them. America came through successfully towards the end.

    This event never had any formal planning or a leader. Russia was suffering from economic and social problems. Strikers joined the streets by soldiers. The city fell into a state of chaos, and to try to overthrow the czar.
