    Fought against the Swedes. It happened in the 16th century. The war was fought in Vitebsk.
  • The Decembrist Revolt

    The Decembrist Revolt
    Happened in December, 1825. Members of the upper classes including former soldiers revolted after Alexander the 1st died.It failed, but inspired revolts in the future
  • Alexander II Emancipates Serfs

    Alexander II Emancipates Serfs
    Freed serfs to be able to move around. Happened in 1861. Also relaxed censorship and expanded schooling.
  • Assassination of Alexander II

    Assassination of Alexander II
    The people tried twice to kill him. The first try was when they blew up the Winter Palace. That try failed. The success was when a bomb went off while he was riding in his carriage.
  • Bloody Sunday

    Bloody Sunday
    Happened in January 1905. 100 people were killed by the czar’s soldiers. The people were protesting to change the government.
  • Russo-Japanese War

    Russo-Japanese War
    Fought over Port Arthur. Japan had it and Russia wanted it. Started by torpedo attack from Japan. Russia was handicapped by them only having one railroad to move men to and from the port. Ended by the Treaty of Portsmouth.

    It was to make Nicholas II turn the government into a constitutional monarchy. This one failed. Started from Bloody Sunday and the massacre of the protestors.

    Were part of the Allied Forces. Led to the revolution of Russia. Put soldiers on German and Austrian borders. Russia wanted to control Constantinople and the straits from the Black Sea to the Aegean Sea. Started fighting Germany on August 1st.

    For a short time the government was controlled by the Constitutional Democrats. The power was given to Alexander Kerensky. Alexander wanted to continue World War 1 but the people didn’t.

    World War I was the beginning of the end for him. He abdicated the throne because of his son and his safety. His whole family was sent to Siberia and were all shot and killed
