Events Leading Up to the Russian Revolution

    This major conflict was mainly between Russia, and Europe, i was fought becuase of Russia hunger for more land also known as the Russian Expansion. Another plus to taking over those particular countries was the Baltic Sea which Russia desperatly wanted. In the end Russia with it's huge numbers and great land mass won, and claimed the Baltic sea for there own.
  • The Decembrist Revolt

    The Decembrist Revolt
    The Decembrist revolt or the Decembrist uprising took place in Imperial Russia on the 26th December. This revolt was lead by high army officals in revolt to Nicholas the 1st obtaining his older brothers throne, even though the brother had willingly given the throne and the kingdom up to Nicholas the 1st. Since this Revolt took place in December, the rebeks we called The Decemberist.

    Czar Alexander II Emancipates the Serfs
    Alexander the 2nd emancipated the serfs yes, but he also made a law inwhich the serfs were only allowed to buy and sell land in a ten year period, which was almost exactly like tieing them to there land. It seemed that everytime the serfs got a brake the would be som silly catch that would turn it all around again.

    This was not the 1st time the people plotted againsist Alexander, this was about the 4th suicide attempt, but it was the only one that was well planned out and succeded. He died a painful death in St.Petersburg, his legs were broken, more like shattered and his blood was every where. Everyone involved with the Assassination commited suicide.

    Russia compared to Japan, whose bigger? Russia by far right? But when Japan came to Russia to fight they becam victorious, and the russian honnor was crushed, not many soldiers where killed, but it show weekness in Russia and many people questioned there countries strength.

    This major revolution was the result of Bloody Sunday, it was an uprising of many differnt religious and political belifs. the people flooded the streets and protested every single choice and law the Czar had made. The Czar grew scared, and he began to ask the people what he could do so that he could stay in power, the people answered but it was to late there were military protests going on and the goverment had fallen to pieces.

    Bloody Sunday
    When the people went on a peacefully protest into the Czar palace, the Czar grew scared and told his military to aim there guns on the towns people, and if they got to close, he gave the the right away to open fire and the citizens. Over 1,000 people died that day and it was the begining of the Russian Revolution.

    The Russians were dragged into the "Great War." Russia was on team "Allies" which was France, the United Kingdom, and Russia. Russia had little resources when they sent there men to war, some with no food or weapon.
    1.3 million men died
    4.2 million wounded
    2.4 men were captured

    This Revolution took place in Febuary and some of March. This was the turning part in the revolution, where the was no more Czar so no more master power ruling over a HUGE landmass, the country grew into two differnt sides, which lead to a Civil War which killed 28 million russians.

    When the Czar came to the offical decision to leave his Russian Throne, he and his wife and there kids were moved out of the main palace and were isolated in a palace called The Alexander Palace, soon after they moved in te family relized that they were inprisoned in this Palace, his wife became to grow irritated, but the Czar enjoyed the down time and spending time with his children. Soon after the whole family was Murdered
