    The Great Northern War
    The Great Northern War was a conflict in which a coalition led by the Tsardom of Russia successfully contested the supremacy of the Swedish Empire in Europe. The war lasted twentry one years starting in 1700, ending in 1721. The war was between Sweden's CHarles XII and a coalition lead by Peter the Great. By the end of the war, Sweden lost her supremacy as the leading power in the Baltic regoin and was replaced by Peter the Great's Russia.

    The Decembrist Revolt
    In st. Petersburg, Russia a group of military officials staged a revolt against Tsar Nicholas I. The military officials felt threatened by the new rulers conservative views. The Decembrist Revolt was where Russian army officers led about 3,000 soldiers in a protest against the assumption of the throne.

    Czar Alexander II Emancipates the Serfs
    Alexander II emanxipated the Serfs because he wanted them to have freedom because he was a serf as well. Also, he asked them to consider the emancipation because he made a deal that instead of giving land to the serfs, they have to buy it at a higher cost inorder to be able to get let out and free. He owned 20,000 serfs.

    Alexander II was the emperor of Russia for twenty six years, from 1855 until has assassination (1881). He was also the King of Poland and the Grand Prince of Finland. His parents were Nicholas I of Russia and Alexandra Feodorovna. Alexander II was killed in the streets by a bomb.

    Czar Nicholas II abdicates the Russian throne
    Nicholas was crowned on may 26, 1894 without being expierenced with training or inclined to rule. In March 1917, the army garrison at Petrograd joined striking workers in demanding socialist reforms, and Czar Nicholas II was forced to abdicate. After a secret meeting, a death sentence was passed on the imperial family, and Nicholas, his wife, his children, and several of their servants were gunned down on the night of July 16

    THe Russo-Japanese War was a rival between Russian Empire and the Empire of Japan. What had happened was the Japan forced Russia to abandon their expansionist policey in the far east. The Japenese did this so they could become the first Asian power in modern time to ever defeat the European power.
  • Bloody Sunday

    Bloody Sunday was sometimes called the Bogside Massacre. It was where 26 unarmed civil-rights protesters and bystanders were shot by soldiers of the British Army. Two protesters were injured by being run down by the army vehicles. The murder investigation took at least four years and involved a team of 30 detectives.

    The Russian Revolution started by a peacful protest held on January 22. Father Gapon took 150,000 people to the freezing cold streets to protest about their lifestyle. They were forced to comeplain about their government and royal family.
