    Peter the Great had Polland and Denmark as allies so he started the Second Northern War. the war lasted until 1721. A treaty of Nystad (in 1721) brought the war to an end. On the territory Peter won he built an capital named St. Petersburg.

    Groups of nobles and army offices attempted to overthrow the czar's government. The czar Nicholas I destroyed the uprising, and executed five leaders and more.

    More than 23 million serfs recieved their liberty. Serfs were granted full ights of free citizen,to own property and business. Serfs would be able to buy land from their landlords. Many households serfs were greatly at fault with their share of "freedom". They only gaind freedom but no land.

    The war ended September 5, 1905 after Russian and Japanese people broke down from there discussions Japanese navy attacked Russian fleet at Port Aurthor. This all led to war. Japanese defeated the Russians on sea and land.

    Nicholas II abdicated his throne on March 15, ending more than 300 years of rule by the Romanov Dynasty. He and his family were exiled to Siberia and later executed.
