  • The Great Northern War

    The Great Northern War
    There was military issues in which Russia, Denmark-Norway, and Saxony-Poland wanted to fight with Sweden in the Baltic area. As a result of the war Russia gained major power.
  • The Decembrist Revolt

    The Decembrist Revolt
    A revolt in Imperial Russian on December 26th. Army officers and soilders were protesting against Nicholas I's assumtion of the throne and they didn't like his views. Nicholas reacted with brutal repression. He had secret police that spied on just about everyone, more than 15,000 people were accused of treason and were sent to SIberia.

    Czar Alexander II Emancipates the Serfs
    Alexander II freed the serfs. They gained a few rights such as political rights and they could have their tools and homes. They didn't have the best life still, they had to buy their own land, had high taxes, and lived in poverty.
  • The Assassination of Alexander II

    The Assassination of Alexander II
    Alexander II and his family were at the Winter Palace in Siberia. Him and his family were led into the basement thinking they were going to get their picture taken. They were then surrounded by a radical group and him and his whole family was murdered. Then they hid and burried the bodies, and later on when people wanted history to be "erased" everyone involved in his death or knew about it was killed.
  • The Russo-Japanese War

    The war was known as "the first great war of the 20th Soviet Union and Japan was arguing. The Japanese won against Russia and signed the treaty of Portsmouth.
  • Bloody Sunday

    Bloody Sunday
    A conflict because Japan wanted Korea and Manchuria. The resullt led to the Russo-Japanese War. Russia had a horrible lose and many lost their lives.
  • The Revolution of 1905

    The Revolution of 1905
    Bloosy Sunday caused the Russians to be horrified which started the revolution. It caused them to start riots and strikes that swept the cities. Czar Nicholas II put it to an end by setting up an elected assembly called the Duma.
  • World War I

    World War I
    The War started on July 28, 1914 and ended on November 11, 1918. Over 9 million combats were killed during it. Russia was successful against the Austro-Hungarians but was stopped by Germany.
  • The March Revolution

    The March Revolution
    In Petrograd, the Russian capital riots and strikes erupted. Many soilders that were supposed to take care of the crowds refused to shoot them, many of the soilders joined in. Czar Nicholas II gave up the throne a week after the riots started. The people wanted free speech and religion.

    Nicholas II abdicated a week after the Petrograd riots started. He didnt have enough power to control it and I don't think e knew what to do. So the Provisional Government took over.
