    There isn't any exact known date for when the war started. It was fought between Charles XII, from Sweden, and Peter the Great. Sweden had lost having most of the power in the Baltic region to Russia by the end of the war.

    Decembrist Revolt Began
    Many officers were demanding social reform and it was a revolt led against Czar Nicholas II. Many of the people participating in this revolt were hanged, sent to Siberia, or demoted to a peasant status.

    Czar Alexander II Abolished Serfdom
    Serfdom was a system on which the peasants were tied to their land lords. American slavery was then abolished four years later and considered unlawful. Alexander II thought that American slavery was inhumane. Serfdom was different than American slavery because the serfs were treated well and not like a piece of property.

    A bomb was thrown at him while he was in the streets. People made many attempts on his life before, but never succeeded until that day. Many other officials and leaders were murdered to try and overthrow Russia’s czarist autocracy.

    March 15th, 1917, Czar Nicholas II abdicates the throne. He was the ruler since 1894, but he was never trained to rule. Discontent grew throughout the country when there was a shortage of food, yet Nicholas still led the country into many different wars. Soon so many workers and other people were going on strike, that Czar Nicholas II was soon forced to abdicate the throne.
