Events Leading Up to the Russian Revolution

  • The Great Northern War

    The Great Northern War
    There was a 15 year old boy, named Charles XII.
    He was the new ruler of Sweden, because his father had died. But you see, Peter the Great wanted to expand his territory into Sweden.But the thing is, when he arrived with all ofhis troops, he was seriously killed. Many of his troops, dead, and taken prisoner, the 15 year old had won.
  • The Decemberist revolt

    The Decemberist revolt
    December, 1825, In ST. Petersburg Russia. A bunch of miltry officils revolted against Nicholas the first. These rebels felt threatened by this new ruler, but, they were defeated by the Czar's men.
  • Czar Alexander II Emancipates the Serfs

    Czar Alexander II Emancipates the Serfs
    Alexander made a rule stating that if a Czar would like to abolish serfsdom, they could do so, and so around the same time Lincoln took ofice, they decided to abolish serfdom. The former serfs had to live in communities callled Communes.
  • Czar Nicholas II abdicates the Russian throne

     Czar Nicholas II abdicates the Russian throne
    Deputy Karaulov came to the Duma and told that Nicholas had abdivcated the throne for Michael Alexandrovich.
  • The assassination of Alexander II

    He was killed in the streets of Petersburg by a bomb thrown by a member of the "Peoples will" Group. The group was made for terrorism and all sorts of dumb stuff like that including assassinations to attepmt to overthrow Russias Czarist autocracy.
  • Russo Japanese war

    It was the first great war of the 20th century. It grew out of rival imperial ambitions of the Russians over the japanese's warm water port.
  • The revolution of 1905

    It was uprising of the people of Russia wanting a change in their government. The whole thing was started by troops opening fire on peaceful marchers in St. Petersburg on January 9th, which had been called bloody Sunday. Czar Nicholas II, after the struggle of regaining his control, made peace by making the October Manifesto. It was a document that granted basic civil liberties and rights to the people and gave citezens a voice in the government.

  • The March Revolution

    It started when 90,000 textile workers went on strike in Russia protesting about the shortage of fuel and bread. Tons of people joined and by the end of a week, about 40,000 people had joined in on the cause.
