Events leading up to the Russain Revolution

  • The Great Northern War

    The war started in the year 1700 and ended in 1721. The war was fought between Peter the Great (Russia) and Charles XII (Sweden). At the end of the war Sweden lost the leading power of the Baltic Region and Peter the Great took it over.

  • Decembrist Revolt

    military leaders staged a revolt because rebels where threatening Nicholas I.
  • Czar Alexander II Emancipates the Serfs

    Alexander the second told his father Nicholas I that American Slavery was inhuman, Because peasants where owned by there landlord. He freed them in 1861
  • Assassination of Alexander II

    Alexander was killed by a bomb throwing of "People's Will" which was organized in 1879 to terrorise and assassin czars. They killed him on March 13, 1881 and his son took over.
  • The Russo-Japanese War

    The Japanese people planned to divide Manchuria and Korea, and they surprised the Russian Naval and Russia was defeated. There was many other battles that had been fought and won by the Japanese. After it lead to the Revolution of 1905.
  • Bloody Sunday

    Bloody sunday is when a bunch of protesters where killed because Nicholas thought they where a threat.
  • Revolution of 1905

    The revoluton of 1905 was when a bunch of workers including sailors went on strike for there working conditions and wages.
  • World War I (Russian Involvement)

    Russia Joined England and France, at the time Russia had the biggest army but it was hard to deploy them.
  • The March Revolution

    It started out on march forth with factory workers on strick. Then a few days later they where locked out of there work and had no pay. This caused a riot that Nicholas the II thought would be over in a few days. But the riots got worse. People where releasing people from prison and soldiars where joining in on this riot. Nicholas II ordered that the Duma or the Parlimant not to meet anymore. Instead they disobied him (first act of teh Russain Revolution). At the end Royalty came to an end.
  • Czar Nicholas II abdicates the Russian throne

    Nicholas II led them into many, costly battles and things like food became hard to get, soldiers became weak, and people did not like this. So in March of 1917 he stepped down and on July 16th him, his family, and several servants where gunned down.
