    It was a 21 year long war starting in 1700 and lasting till 1721. The Great Northern War was fought between Russia lead by Peter the Great and Swedens Charles XII. It ended with the defeat of the Swedish empire and the Russians got to control a warm water port for shipping and trading while exapnading their empire iven farther thean it already was.

    The Decembrist Revolt
    The Decembrist Revolt occured becuase of new ideas coming form Europe. This revolt was the first experienced in Russia and the Czar Nicholas the First exiled the leaders of the revolt and sent hundreds of people to certain death in Siberia for participating in the revolt.
  • Alexander the 2nd Emancipates the Serfs

    Alexander the 2nd Emancipates the Serfs
    The emancipation of the serfs was a very important event. The refrom that allowed this set them free and it also allowed them to buy land. The proablem was that to buy land it costed a ton of money which the serfs did not have resullting in very little change for the serfs.

    The assassination of Alexander the II was an attempt to over throw the autocratic rule of the czar out and to bring in a new government elected by the people. This however did not happen and the people who assassinated the czar where exacuted by the czars succser Alexander the third.

    War between the Russian empire and the Japanese empire over land which is now modern day north and south Korea. Both nations wanted this land for resources to continue their exspansion and to grow their empire and armies. The war resulted in a humiliating loss for Russia.

    Occured when a large group of peaceful protestors marched to the Winter palace and were shot at by the czars military killing and wounding hundreds of unarmed innocent protestors.

    Was a revolution in which their were assassination attempts, student riots, and peaceful demonstrations turned bloody. This revolution lead to many reforms that created hope but never got threw permanently.
  • Czar Nicholas the second abdicates his throne

    Czar Nicholas the second abdicates his throne
    Nicholas the II was the last czar of russia being overthrone by his "loyal" advisors. He was promised that if he abdicated his throne he would and is family would be spared and he could live in peace with his family. Well that didn't happen and he ended up being murdered after being put under house arrest for a year he and his family were murdered and buried not to be thought of again till the collapse of the Soviet Union.

    A very short unorganized revolt in which their were many violent outbursts and strikes resulting in very little progress towards anything. If this revolution did anything they caused the Russian czar to crack down on the serfs even more.

    World War one was fought between the alliance of France, Russia, Italy, and the U.K. with the United States entering later vs. Austria-Hungray, Balgeria, Germany, and the Ottaman empire. Russia entered the war with the largest army in the war and had a successful start but was slowly beaten back but with help from its allies the Russians won the war but with heavy losses.
