Hitler went against the Treaty of Versailles by rearming his army. He rebuilt the air force, reinstated the draft, and rearmed the nation. He said that this was for the defense of the nation. He did this while British leaders were away. -

Hitler again went against the Treaty of Versailles by marching his soldiers into Rhineland. In the Treaty of Versailles, Rhineland was designated as a buffer between Germany and France and Belgium. People feared the collapse of the army, but Hitler was confident. France did not challenge Germany -

Hitler targeted the Jews, then Austria and now Czechoslovakia. He tried to take away their freedom. Czechoslovakia turned to their allies for help. -
Hitler Tries to Make a Union with Austria
Hitler made a secret meeting with teh Austrian Prime Minister Kurt von Schuschnigg. He wanted to make a union between Germany and Austria. After arguing and yelling, Hitler gave the Prime Minister three days to make a decision. The Prime minister tried to create a vote for it. -
Hilter Enters Austria
Hitler entered Austria after stating that unless the Austrian Prime Minister left office, then he would invade to fix the chaos. Again there was no response to the invasion. After, the vote showed that 99.7 percent of Austria’s voters agreed with the invasion. -
Hitler Says that Other Countries Disrespect Jews, Too
Hitler said that other nations were being hypocrites when they accussed Germany of treating Jews badly because they were doing the same thing. He stated that they needed to fix the Jewish problem. He also said that Europe can not settle down until the Jewish question is answered. -
Nazis March into Poland
The Nazis took prisoners out of a concentration camp and brought them to a town near Poland. They dressed them in Polish army uniforms, killed them and then used them as an excuse to march into Poland. They said it was retaliation for a Polish attack. -

Hitler Gets Rid of Education in Poland
Hitler shipped 167 professors at Cracow University to a concentration camp near Berlin. He arrested 1000 intellects in Poland. He decreed that he could get rid of threats without a trace. Any non Germans were not allowed to go to school above fourth grade. -

Hitler Conquers All of Western Europe Except Britain
Hiltler conquered Denmark and Norway in April. In May, Hitler conquered Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. He controlled France by June 22. Now Britain was teh only nation left in Western Europe that wasn't conquered by Germany. -
HItler Enters Russia
The Nazis entered Russia to finally destroy the Jews. There were four SS units that followed behind the army that each had their own territory. Orders were given to kill any enemy of the state. -
Japan Bombs Pearl Harbor
Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. This provoked the United States into a war against Japan. The Japaneese surprised the army base and caused a lot of damage. -
The United States Declared War Against Japan
This was the day after they bombed Pearl Harbor. The United States declered war on Japan. Japan and Germany were allies. Germany wasn't required to go to war against the US, but Hiltler didn't back down to a fight. -
Hitler Declares War on the US
Hitler wasn't required to fight with their allie Japan, but Hitler did anyways. This brought Britain, the Soviet Union and the US against Germany. They were united against Germany to win the war.
