January: Elie undergoes surgery. Elie and his dad run with the others. They run to Gleiwitz. Where then they bored cattle cars then are sent to Buchenwald. -
The red army liberates; Elie leaves
January 18: The red army liberates Auschwitz. Elie leaves before then. -
Death of father
Elie's father, Shlomo, ends up dying. -
U.S troops arrive to save Elie and the others
April 10: Elie and the others are liberated with the arrival of U.S. troops. -
