Creation of the Communist Party
It became Russia's official political party until August 29th, 1991. They were the first to establish a socialist state. -
Bolshevik Revolution
It was a revolution over the right to rule the Russian Government. The Bolsheviks succeeded with their overthrow of the government and this led to communism. -
Russian Revolution
This resulted in the end of the Russian empire and the start of a communist empire. In addition, the Russian Civil War started later on after the revolution. -
Lenin's New Economic Policy
This policy permitted certain types of private economic activity, in order for the country to recover from the Civil War. This was abondoned after Lenin died as Joseph Stalin took over the country. -
Establishment of the USSR
USSR stands for the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. it united a lot of smaller and larger countries together to form one great nation. -
Stalin's Five Year Plan
This plan was aimed to help improve the development of iron, steel, machine tools, electric power and transport. He hped this would improve their work force and economy. -
Cuban Missile Crisis
The Soviet Union formed an agreement with Cuba to set up missile launching sites in Cuba. This gave the Soviet Union an advantage against the U.S. incase the U.S. ever attacked the Soviet Union. -
Glasnost/Perestoika
Glasnost means openess and Perestoika means restructuring in Russian. These were the symbolic words spoken by Mikhail Gorbachev for the remodeling of the Soviet body politic and society that he pushed for. -
End of the Communist Party
This was part of the separation of the individual countries that used to make up the Soviet Union. -
Democracy of Russia Implemented
They are taking a step away from their original government before 1991. Their new democracy represents the working class who then elects workers' councils to represent them. -
Russian Stock Market Crash
The crash was believed to have been caused by the Russian government devaluing the ruble and defaulting its debt.
