    The Norse arrived in Canada's eastern coast where the Beothuk people live, The Norse also are called the vikings. They sailed from greenland and built a settlement at l'Anse Aux Meadow. At first the Beothuk people and the vikings lived in peace but soon the two groups started battling each other. The Norse started to fight back, The vikings left their settlement soon after.

    John Cabot was a Italian born explorer. In 1497 John Cabot arrived at the North American coast by accident because Cabot was just ordered to find a direct route to Asia by the English king's order.     The settelers and Champlain did not expect the weather to be this harsh, half of the settlers did not survive. Nova Scotia was the first pernament French settlement in Canada. The settlers and French fishers traded metal goods with the Mi' Kmaq people for beaver furs. Beaver furs were very popular in Europe which meant the French could sell the furs for high prices.     Samuel De Champlain was a french explorer.He was born in France.Champlain hoped to find a passage to Asia. In 1603 he arrived in north america and sailed up the St. Lawrence river, since he couldn't find the route to Asia he returned back to France. The next year he came with 80 other French settlers and spent the winter on a small island named Ste. Croix.
