    Tenochtitlan is Established

    The Aztec build Tenochtitlan on two islands in the middle of a lake. It is later rebuilt and renamed as Mexico City
  • Period: 1428 to 1440

    Itzcoatl Rules

    During Itzcoatl's reign over the empire, he forms strategic alliances with the Texcoco and Tlacopan Nations which makes the Aztecs even stronger.
  • 1502

    Montezuma gains power

    Montezuma takes over the Empire at its greatest extent, but the Empire is weakened by neighbouring tribes.
  • Feb 18, 1519

    The Conquistadors Arrive

    Hernan Cortes and 600 men arrive in Cuba on 18 February 1519. The round thing Yucatán Peninsula and arrive in the Tabasco state of Mexico.
  • Nov 8, 1519

    Cortes enters Tenochtitlan

    Cortes enters the city of the Aztecs tricking Montezuma into thinking that they could become allies. He later captures Montezuma to progress in taking over the Aztec Empire/
  • 1520

    Victories for the Spanish

    In 1520 two major things happen which benefit the Spanish. Firstly Montezuma dies in custody and secondly, Cortes wins the battle of Otumba over the Aztecs.

    Cuitlahuac becomes Eperor

    After Montezuma's death, Cuitlahuac takes over the throne
  • May 22, 1521

    Cortes launches Attack

    Cortes launches a strong attack against Tenochtitlan with help from the Aztec's rivals.
  • Aug 13, 1521

    The Aztecs Fall

    The capital city of the Aztecs fall to the Spanish and the Aztec Empire falls into ruins.
