Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assasinated by Gavrilo Princip. THis event was the kick off for the first world war. At this point in time the U.S. is still neutral but is paying close attenttion to what is going on. -

Austria-Hungar declared war on Serbia. Russia sided with Serbia and Germany declared war on Russia. The U.S. is still neutral at this time. -

Germany Sank a British passenger ship with a torpedo. THis killed two Americans and left several injured. This has started to get the U.S's attention now and we are starting to get invovled with everything. -
