CPR Procedures

  • CPR

In the book it states “Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a lifesaving technique useful in many emergencies, including heart attack or near drowning, in which someone's breathing or heartbeat has stopped.”(health8) You would normally perform CPR in emergencies like when someone drowns or chokes. Sometimes if your not trained you should always try because you could save someones life. Before you begin check if the person is conscious or unconscious by tabbing on their shoulder and saying Hey!
  • CPR (continue)

In the book it states “When the heart stops, the lack of oxygenated blood can cause brain damage in only a few minutes. A person may die within eight to 10 minutes"(health8) You must work as fast as you can because usually when doing CPR your dealing with the heart which the most important organ in the body. If you someone beside you tell them to call 911 while you are doing CPR.
  • Example

One time I was at the YMCA and I was swimming with my family until we see two girls drowning. In the book it states “ Start CPR with 30 chest compressions before checking the airway and giving rescue breaths"(health8) The life guard jumps in and started to do the first part of the CPR. We were all scared for the two girls since it was our first time seeing someone drown. I witnessed this in middle school till this day i remember how the lifeguards save the two girls.
