    After WW2 the international community finally felt sympathetic to the Zionist cause which called for an independent Jewish state in their homeland. The UN proposed to divide Palestine into a Jewish and Arab state, which the Arab leaders rejected. Despite their objections they went through with it and Israel was created on May 14, 1948

    The day after the deceleration of Israel as an independent state armies from the Arab countries of Syria, Transjordan, Lebanon, and Iraq invaded Israel, Marking the Start of the Arab- Israeli war. Eventually a cease fire was signed but no peace treaty was ever negotiated.

    As Egypt began to ready itself for war, Israel launched a preemptive strike against Egypt and Syria, marking the beginning of the Six-Day War between Israel and Egypt/ Syria. Israel took control of Golan Heights, Sinai Penninsula, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem.

    The Yom Kippur War was a surprise attack from Egypt and Syria on Israel. After the Six Day War they where determined to get their territory back Israel required aid from the united states in order to push the opposing armies back. After weeks both sides agreed to a cease fire.

    The Camp David Accords was a peace agreement between Egypt and Israel where Egypt recognized Israel as a coutry. Israel returned Egypt land. While there was peace with Egypt Palestine was still in unrest.
