Colette's Bio

I was born in Oakland, Ca. I have lived in Oakland most of my life. I have two sons and two grandsons. The past seventeen years I've worked in education, mainly with after school programs in various positions from a line staff to an administrator. I've worked in public, private, and charter schools. I love Disney and going to Disneyland! In the few minutes of spare time I might have I love to read science fiction and fantasy stories and love spending time with my family!

Director of Extended Learning

Oversaw all of the extended day programs, before and after school. Worked directly with the Grantee- UC Berkeley Graduate School of Education. The programs were funded by the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant. This was a new and exciting change for me working at a Charter Military School. Jerry Brown, the Governor of California, started this school and visited the school often. The school was focused on college preparation and family engagement.

Teacher - Special Programs - UC Berkeley Graduate School of Education

Once the 21st Century grant had ended with OMI (Oakland Military Academy) I went to work for UC Berkeley. They were awarded another five year grant to work with 6 private catholic schools in the bay area. These are the schools that I now support in my current role.

Received my Bachelor's Degree from Ashford University

My degree is in Early Childhood Education Administration. I have the least experience working with children in this area and that is why I chose this degree. I choose the adminstrative side because at sometime in the future I am interested in working with young children at a pre-school or transistional kindergarten program.
