The Anschluss
It was Hitler first strategy. He wanted to reunite German people. He thought he should unify everyone under one empire. So he gain food supplies, defenses, and soldiers. This will reate the “ Third Reich”. He threatened to invade Austria beacuse the Nazi party weren’t given important jobs.
Austrian chancellor quickly did so beacuse he was afraid of Hitler. Austrian chancellor tried to place the nazi party under vote so it can be fair. Hitler sent troops and announced the Anschluss. -
The Munich Conference
Hitler’s next goal was to be part of Czechoslovakia. Czechs resisted Hitler’s goal. France and the Soviet Union backed them up just in case Hitler attacked. To avoid another war, Neville Chamberlain granted Hitler's demand. Promised Hitler the Sudetenland if he promised not to destroy Czechoslovakia. Hitler invaded and destroy Czechoslovakia soon after. -
The Nazi-Soviet Pact
Hitler was getting ready to invade Poland, agree with the Soviet Union in order to keep the peace with them. Germany and USSR signed the Nazi-Soviet Pact. It said Kept USSR out of the war if Germany went to war against Britain and France in exchange for Polish lands. -
The war begins
Germany invaded Poland. They invaded the Soviet Union. Britain and France declared war on Germany. Germany blitzkrieg, or “lightening war” to take Poland. -
Danzig and the Polish Corridor
Hitler wanted Danzig. Hitler wanted to build a highway and railroad across Poland to connect Germany, Danzig and East Prussia. Britain and France knew demand failed. They said that they would back up Poland if Hitler invaded.
