Twenty years after Humphrey Gilbert's ship went down, French people tried to colonize with Maine. King Henry 5th made the nobleman's named Pierre Gu Guast, and Sieur De Monts the leaders of the colony. Monts brought Samuel as a mapmaker.

De Monts and Champlain made their way down to Canada first, and then down to the coastline of Maine. -
They named the two major rivers in the North the St. Croix and St. John, they made the attempt to colonize the Island in the St. John river. -
Champlain had continued south and made maps of the Coast of Maine. He was very impressed with the coastline.

Samuel had died on December 25, of 1635 due to a stroke.
