  • Discussion

Met with Jenny to talk about different intergration ideas. She had an interest in learning Prezi but wasn't sure what she would do with it, I asked about having her students do a Prezi for a unit in the classroom and we decided the students (1st grade) were too young. We talked about finding apps for the iPads that maybe the students could use for math. Another idea was using Photo Story for an end of the year wrap up with her students.
  • Project Determined

Jenny contacted me and said that she would like me to record the children reading some of their poems from the poetry unit. Then she would like to make a presentation that shows the student's poem as the child is reading the poem. I recommended using Photo Story for this because we could easily record the students reading the poem and also use graphics to show the poem.
  • Timeframe Decided

Jenny said that she would like me to come into her classroom to show her the best way to record the children digitaly. We determined that we would start recording the first week of April, as that would give her time to get a little further along in the poetry until. We said we would touchbase a little later in the month to decide the exact time I would come into her classroom.
  • Touchbase

I touchedbase with Jenny because originally she set and April 1st date when we would begin the project. She said that her class is working on their poetry unit but she would like to get alittle farther before we started the project. We agreed to talk on Monday (April 8th) and hopefully set a start date then. We also talked about more details of the project. She wants to have each student read a poem as the poem is displayed on the screen. She would like all of the poems in one file.
  • Timeline

Getting antsy, want to get this project rolling. However I can't because I need to wait for the class to get farther along in their poetry books.
  • Confirm Date

Talked to Jenny, we discussed that we are absolutely going to start on Tuesday, at 2:00pm and also use Wednesday the same time if needed.
  • Photo Story Lesson

Met with Jenny to teach her how to use Photo Story. I taught Jenny how to make a new Photo Story, add pictures, text, audio, songs and also how to save it to different formats.
  • Classroom Day 1

I went into Jenny's class and met the kids. Each student and Mrs. Flemming decided together what poem the child wanted to read. We took a picture of their poem and uploaded the picture to Photo Story. Then we recorded the child reading their poem. We got done with about 9 students.
  • Classroom Day 2

Today Jenny and I got done with the rest of the class. The kids were so excited to take their turn being recorded.
  • Editing

Went over to Jenny's house and we worked on edit the Photo Story. I showed her how to add text to each picture and also how to add a graphic. We also worked on editing some of the pictures.
  • Final Touches

We worked on the final touches to the video. Jenny is super excited to give a CD to each student with their classmates poems on it to each student on the last day of school.
One thing that I was a little dispointed in was the backround noice on the video. However we had to record the kids in her classroom because we couldn't leave the class unattended.
