    Franz Ferdinand along with his wife was assassinated in Sarajevo,1914. He was killed by a secret society the "Black Hand".
  • Russia declared war on Austria-Hungary

    When Franz Ferdinand was assassinated Austria-Hungary decided to put authority over Serbians. Austria-Hungary wanted to bring the Serbian assassins to justice. Austria-Hungary expected that Serbia would reject the ultimatum. Serbia had things in common with russia so Serbia brought Russia into the argument and Russia declared war on Austria-Hungary.

    After Britain declared war on Germany, Britain was at war with Austria-Hungary. Austria, Canada, India, New Zealand, Union of South Africa all supported Britain. Germany forced the U.S to go to war with them. Then Japan joined the war against Germany because of an agreement with Britain.
