Mexico sent troops and built garrisons into Anahuac. The leadership caused settlers to get angry and escalated into a fight.

After waiting months to meet up with Santa Anna, SFA sent a letter to Texas to start organizing a state government. Santa Anna meets SFA and agrees to some demands, but not to be a separate state. Stephen F. Austin is arrested because they thought he was rebelling against Mexican rule.
