    Something in the constitution that would anger Texas resident was the unstable government, poor leadership, and the fact that the people never got to vote. Constitutional government in Texas began with the Mexican federal Constitution of 1824, which was similar to the United States Constitution but resembled more the Spanish Constitution of 1812.

    The Fredonian Rebellion was a dispute between the Mexican government and the Edwards brothers, Haden and Benjamin. Haden Edwards had his land stripped from him by Mexico and wasn't happy about it so he took the land and made it his own and called it ¨Republic of Fredonia¨.

    In 1827 President Guadalupe Victoria named General Manuel de Mier y Terán to lead a scientific and boundary expedition into Texas. Their job was to observe the natural resources and the Indians, to discover the number and attitudes of the Americans living there, and to determine the United States‐Mexico boundary between the Sabine and the Red rivers.

    Outlawing slavery was a "check" on American immigration because it would break the colonization laws, which guarenteed the settlers security for their people and property.

    The outcome of this meeting was bad because the tejano settlement of San Antonio Victoria made it seem like the colonists from the U.S. were unsatisfied. Texas requested separate statehood from Cahulia.

    This meeting was held so soon after the Convention of 1832 because they were talking about what Texas had requested previously. It was a different meeting because they were talking about granting Texas' request.
  • SFA Goes to Mexico City

    SFA Goes to Mexico City
    His purpose in going to Mexico City in the first place was to deliver the petitions to Mexico City and argue for their approval. Santa Anna would not approve and Austin was arrested at Saltitlo under suspicion of trying to incite insurrection in Texas, and taken back to Mexico City.
