a small group of nobles and army officers had went out and tried to overthrow the czars goverment in december 1825. they wanted a constitutional monarchy. Nicholas had responded brutaly he killed five leaders and sent 100's to siberia. he had sent secret police to schools to spy in the end over 150,000 poeple were sent to siberia. -
