Arn and his family move to camp

Arn plays music for khmer rouge
Arn's family is still missing and he does not want to think about them to avoid being killed. One day a man walks to Wat EK (the camp Arn is in) and asks if any of the children can play an instrument. Arn says he can even though he knows nothing about music. Arn and the other volunteers are required to present their performance to the Khmer Rouge and if they do bad they will be killed. As a result they do well and Arn becomes famous in the camp. -

Arn must fight in war
When the Vietnamease start to attack the camp and Khmer Rouge, Arn is handed a gun and is forced to fight. All the kids in Arn's music group are forced to fight as well and they're all in one army named the fish. They were supposed to run out shoot anyone they saw and wait for the adults to come. After many children in the army die Arn realizes why they are called the fish beacause they were bait. -

Arn crosses into Cambodia
As Arn tries to follow the leader he gets lost and stayed in the jungle for months. He ate whatever the monkey's ate and sometimes his head would make him go crazy and he actually ate some of the monkeys. When he found the border into Cambodia he crossed the river and he was taken to a hospital by a bus. In the hospital he weighed 60 pounds and was very sick. But one man called Mr. Pond would always visit him. -

The Orphanage and America
When Arn was finally cured to an orphanage in Cambodia. The popular sport in the orphange was volleyball and Arn kept practicing it so he could become really good and become famous in the orphanage. After one year Mr. Pond adopted three children including Arn and took them to America. They started going to high school and Arn would get made fun of alot cause of their race.
