    Constantinople was founded by a Roman Emperor named Constantine and he gave it its name Constantinople. The city became to be known for the center of Greek and Christian ideals. It was a big weatlhy city in its time but then was overtaken 800 years after it was built

    Belisarius first battle was the "Battle of Dara". Battle of Dara was started by Kavadh l (emperor of Persia) wanted to make peace with Byzantines, he had wanted Justin l to adopt his son but he said no along with his nephew (Justinian l). Justinian l had then sent Sittas and Belisarius into Persia and were defeated. Justinian then tried to make peace but Kavadh sent troops to Dara. They kept sending more troops till Belisaurs defeated the Persians. The battle lasted less than a year.

    The rebellion in Constantinople caused many riots, but the Nike revolt was one of the most violent. Over half the city was burned and distroyed and many thousands were killed

    Hagia Sophia Completed
    "Hagia Sophia" means "Holy wisdom". It was a church for Christians, then Roman Catholic cathedral after the fourth crusaders. It was one of the major architectures in its time.

    There had been series of conflicts between the Bulgaria and Byzantine emperior. It eventually led to the gradually conquest of Bulgaria. Emperor Basil ll ordered the Byzantine military to the gates of Trajan and retake north eastern Bulgaria

    It was the spilt of western and eastern Christianity. The churches were permanently spilt due to different beliefs and many contraversies. The western church became known as the Roman Catholic Church. The eastern church became known as the Easthern Orthodox Church.

    Alexis l contacts Pope Urban ll for help for military in Middle East
    Alexios had contacted Pope Urban ll to get people to go aganist the Muslims. Pope Uraban ll had done this by giving a speach to Christians to go against the Muslims and fight. Alexios had needed people for protection from the invasion by Selijuk Turks. When they were safe he sent the military to go capture the holy land in Jerusalem to free the western Christians. They didn't complete this until 1099, and that is when the first crusade ended.

    In the fourth crusade the goal of the Christians was to win back the holy city of Jerusalem in Egypt, they teamed up with Venice. Venice agreed to help as long as they helped them export more. The crusaders (Christians) never made it to Egypt instead they attacked Constantinople (weatlhy Christian city). The crusaders won the fourth crusade and Venice and Muslims backed out in 1204

    Fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Turks
    The Byzantine emperior was one of the strongest in military. They were battling many of their enemies, protecting themselves. Their capital Constantinople had captured many of groups attention especially the Ottoman Turks, not for the religion but for the gold. The Byzantines were slowly declining finically because of military disasters in their other cities. The Ottoman Turks invaded the captial and won since most of the military wasn't in Constantinople.
