    The Council of Nicea was a discussion on the unity of the Trinity. It resulted in a sharpened fidelity to theology and the authority of scripture. An increasing intermingling of the church and the world/politics. This will lead to the Monastic movement. Decision of Jesus’ Divinity: Jesus was of the same substance of the father
    Arianism (God the Father is greater than Christ) is rejected as heresy.

    The Council of Chalcedon was a council that debated over the issue of the nature of Christ. It had a lot of implications.Theologically, it Sshowed a wise, careful and balanced restatement of scripture
    and also was significant for its successful translation of biblical revelation into another conceptual language (Ousia, hypostasis, substantia, and persona)
    Practically, it showed how Christians can live in the world and also for God. Like christ, we can be one person with two nature

The monks were important because through their strict devoted way of living, they were the driving force of the Christian faith. They give an example of what a Christ centered life should be like.

    The Great Schism of 1054
    Tensions built between the Eastern and Western churches now that the Roman Empire was split. They had different views on things and arguments about who was right and who had authority and other such issues. This lead to the split of the church. This was the first official split of the Church. After the Schism, the Crusades would continue to drive a wall in between the Eastern and Western churches.

    The Diet of Worms
    The Diet of Worms was basically a trial which gave Martin Luther the chance to recant his writings against the papacy and other church corruptions like indulgences. Luther did not recant his books. This is extremely important because it marked a point where people could stand up to the church. It resulted in the continuation of Luther's beliefs and the future creation of the Lutheran church. It also helped the church realize their wrongdoing and made church more accessible for all people.

    The Wesley brothers were converted to Christianity when they were inspired by Luther's works.. This is extremely important because they took the words of God and put it into their real lives. They applied the Gospel to everyday life. They were made fun of for it, but they caused a revolutionary outlook on Christianity.

    The Edinburgh Missionary Conference
    The Edinburgh Conference was a meeting of different churches and beliefs that wanted to expand Christianity. The Edinburgh missionary conference marked the expansion of missions and a renewed focus to bring the gospel to the world. This came through a struggle, but resulted in a better understanding and a powerful new look on god as he finds his way into new cultures. Many were martyred throughout the spreading of the gospel, but it has helped more and more people come close to God.

    The pope was gradually receiving more power after the unification of the church and the Roman Empire. The pope was given more power than the emperors because God was greater than man. Due to this power, the pope coronated the best leader in all of Europe, Charlemagne, even though he should not have that power. This is significant because it shows how the Romana Empire and the Christian Church came together. It also shows how man cannot be given too much power because man is always sinful.
