  • Battle of Gonzales

    The Mexican Government gave the settlers of Gonzales a cannon as a defense against the natives of the area. When they asked for it back, they said no, and so Mexico responded with 100 Dragoons to retrieve the cannon, known as the Battle of Gonzales. This was known as the first battle of the Texas Revolution and paved the way for a free Texas.
  • Siege of Bexar

    The siege of Bexar took place in LATE OCTOBER 1835. The republican army marched on San Antonio de Bexar, The center of Mexican forces. This was significant because It was a major victory as the Mexicans had retreated and it was the center of the Mexican forces.
  • Battle of Concepcion

    The battle of Conception took place on the 27th near the Mission of Espada. General Austin, Captain Fannin, and Colonel Bowie sent 92 Men to select a suitable camping ground. The Advance guard of the enemy fired upon Texian Sentinels. Against the odds, the Republican army won the battle by repeatedly killing the men manning the cannon. This was a major victory on the Texian side because they had just taken out the majority of an army that outnumbered them.
  • Battle of the Alamo

    The Battle of the Alamo happened on February 23, 1836. The reason for the battle was that Santa Anna sent men to the Alamo in San Antonio due to being angry at the Texans for taking the center of the Mexican Army. It was fought between The Texians and the Mexican Army, resulting in an easy victory as Mexico had outmanned them by a ton.
  • Travis' Letter

    On February 24th, 1836 William Travis wrote a letter to his fellow Citizens asking for aid. In the letter, Travis wrote that he won't back down, despite being besieged by a thousand or more men of General Santa Anna.
  • Goliad Massacre

    Fannin's surrender terms were simple, he wanted his troops to be taken as prisoners of war, have their private property respected, and be released to the US after eight days. General Urrea accepted and wrote a letter to Santa Anna to convince them. Instead, they were taken to Goliad. Santa Anna's order for execution was received on March 27th. Where they were killed the next day.
